Let's Make Menstruation Less Hard

Did you know?

Girls in developing countries may miss up to four or five days of school each month because of menstruation. Health and hygiene education is frequently absent, allowing gender-based taboos and violence to thrive and fostering misinformation.

The Problem

Almost 80% of the women in Bangladesh do not use sanitary napkins mainly due to their high cost or simply due to their lack of awareness which leaves them susceptible to a myriad of health problems.

We personally visited and talked to the girls. They mentioned that they cannot afford appropriate menstrual hygiene products or their families simply don’t buy them for their girls. In many cases, they cannot even tell the family of their need because they are already in severe poverty. Most of them are forced to use unsafe alternatives like old fabric, rags, sand, hay, dry leaves, rags & newspapers. This impacts their daily lives, most notably through absenteeism from school and the workplace.

The Project

Our first objective is to distribute menstrual hygiene products to individuals who cannot afford them. As a part of this project, we will be providing hygiene bags to 200 underprivileged girls of different rural areas in Bangladesh. We will also conduct education/awareness programs about personal hygiene, usage of sanitary napkins and its safe disposal to empowers girls to make informed decisions about how can they manage their menstruation.

What is a ‘Hygiene Bag’?

A ‘Hygiene Bag’ is not just a gift bag, it represents happiness for a sister. It facilitates the journey towards a healthy future for a girl but mostly, it gives relief from the physical and mental suffering at that time of the month.

Every hygiene bag will consist of 12 packets of sanitary pads ($10) for one year, 3 inner garments ($4), two towels ($5), 12 bars of soap ($6) for washing and bathing as well as an informative letter from us.

You can join us

You can also be a part of making some of them smile; you can also tell them they are loved; you can also give them some hope for a day or for a lifetime.

Please keep us in your prayers so we can always do our small part to serve the people in need till our last days.
