Food aid distributed in Kurigram by Maa Amina Foundation
Maa Amina Foundation, a voluntary organization, is providing humanitarian assistance to those who have become unemployed by the coronavirus pandemic.
Maa Amina Foundation, a non-profit organization has distributed food items to vulnerable people at remote char areas of Brahmaputra river in Kurigram on Saturday, May 16. Each packet contained 10 kg of rice, three kg of potatoes, one kg of lentils, one kg of salt, one liter of soybean oil, one kg of sugar, lachcha semai and soap.
Sharifun of Shanker Madhabpr village, who came to fetch food pack, said, 'My eldest son died suddenly a few days ago. I was struggling to make ends meet with my son's income. Because of Corona, everyone is unemployed and sitting at home. Now in the month of Ramadan, I am fasting by eating half-sehri, and some days by drinking only water. Those who gave me this food pack in these difficult times, I pray for them from the bottom of my heart.'
Founder and CEO of Maa Amina Foundation, Nur Salma Khatun said, "We are currently going through a terrible time due to global corona pandemic. Along with the government, various organizations are working to help the corona victims. But in these riverine chars, the aid rarely arrives. So we are trying to deliver food aid to these remote char areas".
